Let's discover one of the most iconic national parks in Tanzania, the Tarangire National Park. It's another great occasion for adventure travelers to explore fauna and flora in this country. Tarangire National Park is situated in Tanzania's Manyara Region. The name of the park originates from the Tarangire River that crosses the park and is the primary source of fresh water for wild animals in the Tarangire Ecosystem during the annual dry season. We consider the dry season as the best for adventurers to go for a safari in the national park. The main reason is the fact the Tarangire Ecosystem is defined by the long-distance migration of wildebeest, cape buffalo and zebras. The Arusha National Park covers Mount Meru, a prominent volcano with an elevation of 4,566 m, in the Arusha Region of north eastern Tanzania. The park is small but varied with spectacular landscapes in three distinct areas. In the west, the Meru Crater funnels the Jekukumia River; the peak of Mount Meru lies on its rim. Ngurdoto Crater in the south-east is grassland. The shallow alkaline Momella Lakes in the north-east have varying algal colours and are known for their wading birds.

The park is located near the city of Moshi. The park includes the whole of Mount Kilimanjaro above the tree line and the surrounding montane forest belt above 1,820 m. The park was declared a World Heritage Site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in 1987. In 2005, the park was expanded to include the entire montane forest, which had been part of the Kilimanjaro Forest Reserve.
